30 Years at Definitive Audio

Mark Ormiston in the early 1990′s at Definitive Audio’s Bellevue Showroom

Immediately after I graduated from University of Washington in 1983, I started working at Definitive Audio. Fresh out of college, I took great pleasure in sharing my passion for high performance audio to enthusiastic customers.

The funny thing is, I didn’t start Definitive Audio with visions of being a businessman… I was just a kid who had found a really hip place to work in a really cool industry. I never imagined that I’d be here 30 years later. From the very beginning, I knew that I wanted to curate all the things that originally made Definitive Audio unique — that undescribable vibe I got every time I stepped into our showroom. I figured out this vibe was a created through a combination of things, but what really stood out was the people at Definitive possessed a decerning ability to know the subtle differences between a product that was ‘good’ and a product that was the ‘very best’.

Today, after 30 years of being both an enthusiast and a businessman, my interest has not diminished in high performance audio and video. Our industry is always producing exciting new technology and is truly a melting pot for some of the most intelligent and interesting people I’ve met. In addition, I am full of gratitude for our customers. Particularly when I run across a customer who I personally sold to and they still choose Definitive for the latest in high performance gear.

For me, these relationships and the ability to share my hobby are the greatest rewards — It’s true… I dig my job!

    Mark,

There is no doubt in my mind, as someone who knew and worked with you in the 80s, that you are dedicated to the pursuit of the best audio & visual experiences available and discovering out all that is tweak in the process. It was clear to all of us who worked with you in the 80s in that little store on Roosevelt!

Congratulations on not only being able to pursue something you clearly love for 30 years but on doing a fantastic job in the process!

    Very best,
    Kim
